Easy knitting- Hats for the Homeless this winter - UK Handknitting Association have an appeal & patterns . Raised 4000 knitted & crochet hats last year - hoping to beat that this year . Need them by end of November . Use up all those odd balls of wool.

A good knitting group is - ukhandknitting.com . They have good patterns for many charities- easy hats ,gloves,blankets ,socks , toys etc - straight forward ones.Age UK needs tiny hats that are put on Innocent Smoothies in the autumn to raise money for Age U.K. Unfortunately lots of charities can’t take at the moment but they hopefully will be able to soon. It’s worth checking websites. I have used up lots of scraps doing hats & scarves for Missions to Seamen ( men & women away from home for long time on the huge ships bringing all the stuff “ we can’t live without” 🙄. SANDS ( Stillbirth & Neonatal Deaths) need straight forward easy white shawls for their babies. Good luck - they all appreciate the effort - and it doesn’t have to be perfect ( mine aren’t 🤭)

Just finished brilliant ” spy WW2 “ non fiction- “ Operation Mincemeat “ by Ben MacIntryre - the plot to persuade Hitler that Sicily wasn’t the main target. Ian Fleming was working in naval intelligence & MacIntryre thinks two of the characters in the plot ended up in Bonds stories .A good read .
