Hello Cheyne Gang! This week Julie has a breathing exercise and two folk songs which will help you pace your breathing using short then longer singing phrases.
The Breathing Waltz
In this exercise we breathe out to breathe in. We're breathing out on short then longer rhythmical speech sounds, counting in 3s to create a feeling of a waltz (for all you ballroom fans!)
Julie has chosen two folk songs for you to practice singing two short phrases followed by a longer singing phrase
When the Boat Comes In
Dance to yer Daddy, sing to yer Mammy
Dance to yer Daddy to yer Mammy sing
Ye shall have a fishie on a little dishie
Ye sheall have fishie when the boat comes in
And a Youtube link to sing along to:
Loch Lomond
By yon bonnie banks and yon bonnie braes
Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond
Where me and my true love were ever won't to gae
By the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond
And a Youtube karaoke singalong to practice with:
And finally the wonderful Dougie Maclean singing Caledonia - watch how he sings short then longer phrases. One of my favourites!
