Home Exercises: Week 48

Hello Cheyne Gang! This week we have 3 new videos from Sophie to keep The Cheyne Gang singing at home! Sophie's videos include a vocal warm up that uses your Cheyne Gang breathing techniques, a brain-gym exercise and a sing-along.

To wind down and relax afterwards, Anne has picked a few more of her favourite songs from YouTube for you to enjoy.

Connecting Voice and Breath

In this exercise we warm-up our voice and connect our sound with our breath. We're engaging with our abdominal muscles, which are really important for supporting our breath and singing. We're practicing stretchy sound and pulsed laughter singing to feel our abdominal muscles at work. You can continue with the patterns at home, getting higher and higher. Pay attention to your body, especially around your core to feel what's going on as we sing and breathe.

Cognitive Exercise: Alive, Alert, Awake, Enthusiastic

A fun brain-gym exercise.

Wild Mountain Thyme

Sing-along with Sophie!

O the summer time has come And the trees are sweetly blooming And wild mountain thyme Grows around the blooming heather. Will you go, lassie, go?

Chorus

And we'll all go together, To pull wild mountain thyme, All around the blooming heather. Will you go, lassie, go?

I will build my love a tower, By yon clear crystal fountain, And on it I shall plant, All the flowers of the mountain. Will you go, lassie, go?

Chorus

If my true love she'll not come, Then I'll surely find another, To pull wild mountain thyme, All around the blooming heather. Will you go, lassie, go?

Chorus

And now it's time to wind down and relax. Anne has chosen a couple of great duets for you to enjoy!

Frank Sinatra & Sammy Davis Jr - Me and My Shadow (live)
